KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Looking to make some moves in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) standings, the Western Michigan baseball team will head to Bowling Green for a three-game series. The Broncos and Falcons will square off on Friday, May 12 at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 13 at 1 p.m. and Sunday, May 14 at 1 p.m.

The Broncos are currently tied for sixth in the MAC standings with Ohio and Buffalo, without looking at tiebreaker scenarios. WMU is 19-24 overall and 8-10 in the MAC while Bowling Green enters the weekend 12-30 overall and 7-14 in the MAC.
Offensively, WMU leads the conference and is ranked No. 22 in the nation in batting average at .305. Four everyday players are batting over .300 in Tanner Allison (.379), Connor Smith (.342), Grant Miller (.319) and Tyler Frank (.305). Allison currently has 60 RBI, making him four RBI away from breaking the WMU single season record. Allison is second in the nation in RBI per game (1.40) and eighth in total RBI (60) while Smith is tied for fifth in triples (six).
The pitching staff will look to start Jacob Piechota, Jimmy Townsend-Chase and Kyle Mallwitz, respectively. Piechota is 2-3 with a 5.16 ERA, Townsend-Chase is 2-2 with a 4.57 ERA while Mallwitz is 5-3 with a 3.61 ERA and leads the team in innings (77.1) and strikeouts (64).
Following the weekend at Bowling Green, the Broncos will finish out the regular season with a three-game series against Buffalo at Robert J. Bobb Stadium at Hyames Field. WMU also has a final midweek game at Notre Dame on Tuesday, May 16 at 6 p.m.
