KALAMAZOO, Mich. -- The Western Michigan women's tennis team saw its three-match winning streak come to an end Sunday afternoon, as Akron beat the Broncos 5-2 at Sorensen Courts.

The Broncos fall to 9-10 overall and 3-3 in the Mid-American Conference (MAC) while Akron, who has an amazing 21-match winning streak, improved to 22-2 and 6-0 in the MAC.
Akron claimed the doubles point to take an early 1-0 lead with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. The Zips carried the momentum over into singles play, winning the first four matches off the board to clinch the win and take a 5-0 lead. That didn't stop the pair of seniors for WMU however, as
Barbare Eristavi earned a 6-4, 0-6, 6-1 win at No. 4 and
Tracy Kuhle won 6-2, 2-6, 6-4 at No. 3. Eristavi extended her winning streak to five matches while Kuhle's is at three.
With three matches remaining before the MAC Tournament, the Broncos have two on the road and one at home. WMU heads to Northern Illinois on Friday, April 14 at 1 p.m. and hosts DePaul on Easter Sunday, April 16 at 1 p.m.
