KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan track and field team makes the long trek to Tuscaloosa, Ala., for the 2017 Crimson Tide Invitational, hosted by the University of Alabama on Friday and Saturday.

WMU will have a light day on Friday, beginning at 4:30 p.m., with just the hammer throw. Savannah Dugan, Samantha Howard and Brittany Casey will all have a crack at it. Casey is riding high off of a great performance at the Jack Shaw Classic after winning the hammer and recording a new personal-best.
A pair of freshmen are the only other competitors on Friday for Western Michigan. Brittney Hall and Autumn Lewis will tackle the 5,000-meter run at 10 p.m.
Saturday will be jam-packed, beginning at 1:30 p.m. with the discus. Western Michigan will also compete in the long jump, 4x100-meter relay, steeplechase, 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter dash, high jump, 100-meter dash, 800-meter run, triple jump, 400-meter hurdles, shot put, 200-meter dash, javelin throw and then close out the meet with the 4x400-meter relay at 8 p.m.
This weekend marks the return for WMU for an outdoor meet at Alabama since 2011 and the Alabama Relays. WMU had won the Alabama Relays three times before the meet switched to a non-scoring format in 2009.
