KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan women's tennis team will host a pair of Mid-American Conference (MAC) matches this weekend, first welcoming in Buffalo on Friday, April 7 at 1 p.m. and then bringing in Akron on Sunday, April 9 at 1 p.m.

The Broncos enter at 8-9 overall and 2-2 in the MAC after a perfect weekend where WMU took down Toledo and Eastern Michigan. Buffalo comes in 6-7 overall and 0-2 in the MAC while Akron, who has won 19 straight matches, comes in at 20-2 overall and 4-0 in the MAC.
"Nothing changes match to match for us. We are looking to compete with energy and effort," head coach Ryan Tomlinson said. "It's always nice to play at home and we look forward to two good opponents coming into Kalamazoo this weekend. The league from top to bottom is very competitive, you have to be ready to go each match."
In singles play, senior Barbare Eristavi leads the team with a 21-7 overall record and also leads the team with a 10-6 record this spring and is 3-1 in the MAC. Denise Azcui is 18-11 overall and went 2-0 last weekend while Melina Lyubomirova is 14-13.
In doubles, the team of Tracy Kuhle/Lyubomirova is 10-7 while Olivia Myers/Azcui are 6-3 together this spring. Eristavi/Katja Fevralev went 2-0 this past weekend at No. 3, bringing their record to 3-1 in the MAC.
After this weekend, WMU has three more matches until the MAC Tournament begins. The Broncos go at Northern Illinois on Friday, April 14 at 1 p.m. and host DePaul on Sunday, April 16 at 1 p.m.
