IRVING, Texas – The Western Michigan football team had nine players named to the 2017 National Football Foundation Hampshire Honor Society this week. The number is seven more than last year's total of two. Making the list this season were
Kasey Carson,
Lucas Cherocci,
James Coleman,
David Curle,
Austin Guido,
Kristof Ifkovits,
Taylor Moton,
Trevor Sweeney and
Zach Terrell.
The NFF named Terrell the 2016 William V. Campbell Trophy recipient, given to the most outstanding scholar-athlete in the country. The nine recipients the Broncos had are the most in the MAC.
The 2017 NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from all divisions of play who each maintained a cumulative 3.2 GPA or better throughout their college career. A total of 1,089 players from 297 schools qualified for membership as the society celebrates its 11th year, setting a new record for the number of players honored during the history of the program.
