PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Western Michigan offensive lineman
Taylor Moton became the second Bronco selected in the 2017 NFL Draft, being taken 64th overall in the second round on Friday. This is the second straight year the Broncos have had two players selected in the NFL draft, joining
Corey Davis who went No. 5 overall Thursday night.
Moton set the Western Michigan record for most games played in a career, playing in all 52 games since his freshman season. In 2016 he was selected to play in the Reese's Senior Bowl in Mobile after earning All-America selections from the Football Writers Association of America, Phill Steele and the American Football Coaches Association. He was named the All-MAC First-Team along with being a 2016 MAC Distinguished Scholar-Athlete. He was named the MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week following the team's win vs. Kent State.
Moton joins former Bronco Willie Beavers as the second offensive lineman in as many years to be drafted. Beavers was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings last season in the fourth round. He becomes the 11
th WMU offensive lineman overall to be drafted.
This is the first time a Western Michigan player has been drafted by the Carolina Panthers. The Broncos first two round picks marks the first time since 2006 they have represented the first two players taken from the MAC.
