PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Western Michigan wide receiver
Corey Davis became the highest NFL Draft pick in school history, as he was selected No. 5 overall by the Tennessee Titans. He is the second first round selection from WMU after Jason Babin was taken 27
th overall in 2004.
Corey led Western Michigan to a 13-1 record in 2016 and the first New Year's Six Bowl berth in program history, playing in the 2017 Goodyear Cotton Bowl. The Broncos earned the bowl berth after winning their third Mid-American Conference title, defeating Ohio 29-26. Davis ended 2016 with a career-high 97 receptions for 1,500 yards and an FBS-high 19 touchdowns.
Davis ended 2016 as the all-time leading receiver in FBS history with 5,285 yards. He became the first Bronco consensus all-American, earning first-team honors by the Associated Press, Football Writers Association of America and being named a USA Today All-American.
Davis was the only FBS player in 2016 with four halves of at least 130 yards and one touchdown. Against Northern Illinois he made the No. 1 play of the day on

Corey ended his college career with 332 receptions for 5,285 and 52 touchdowns. He is the only player in FBS history with 300 catches, 5,000+ yards and 50+ TDs. All are MAC records.
With his selection, Davis becomes the 44
th player in Western Michigan history to be drafted and the fourth wide receiver. Davis is the 17
th player in MAC history selected in the first round and tied for the earliest selection from a MAC school along with Khalil Mack (Univ. at Buffalo) who went No. 5 overall in 2014 to Oakland.
