KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team ended its regular season with a 6-1 win over Toledo at home Saturday afternoon. The Broncos will head into next weekends' Mid-American Conference (MAC) Tournament with an overall record of 15-7 and a MAC record of 6-1 after securing the No. 2 seed.

The Broncos, who are now on a five-match winning streak, got off a great start by claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. Matt Hamilton/Maik Steiner, last week's MAC Doubles Team of the Week, earned a 6-2 win at No. 2 to open and the duo of Jannik Opitz/Eric Olivarez stayed perfect this season with a 6-3 at No. 3 to move to 10-0.
In singles, WMU won the first four matches to take a 5-0 lead and clinch the win. Opitz opened it up with a 6-2, 6-4 win at No. 6 and Hamilton earned a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 to make it 3-0 WMU. Steiner served as the match clincher at No. 3 with a 7-6, 6-2 win to move to 6-1 in the MAC. Freshman Kennosuke Nouchi earned a big win at No. 1 over Stjepan Sisko, one of the best players the MAC has to offer and later in the match, Daniel Loebel earned a comeback win over Serjen Olmedo at No. 4, 4-6, 7-5, 6-1.
WMU hosts the 2017 MAC Tournament from Friday, April 28 to Saturday, April 29 at Sorensen Courts/West Hills.
