CLEVELAND – The Western Michigan track and field team had a program-best six student-athletes from the indoor season honored as Mid-American Conference Scholar Athletes on Thursday.
Sarah Anderson (3.58), Davonne Bolden (3.22), Hanne Christensen (3.61), Savannah Dugan (3.95), Allison Hufnagel (3.89) and Lindsey Hufnagel (3.95) were all voted by the MAC's Faculty Academic Representatives to receive the honors, after being named Academic All-MAC.
Following each season from the winter sports schedule, any student with a 3.20 GPA and participation in at least 50 percent of the contests was automatically named to the previously announced Academic All-MAC Team from each sport. Also, first-year students, junior college and graduate school transfers in their first year of residence were not eligible for the award.
Dugan earns the honors for the second time, while the five others are all first-time honorees. Lindsey Hufnagel and Dugan led the team with GPA's of 3.95.
