MUNCIE, Ind. – Senior Matt Hamilton earned his 100th career singles win as Western Michigan men's tennis team completed the season sweep of Ball State Friday afternoon on the road. The Broncos defeated the Cardinals 4-3 to improve to 13-7 overall and 4-1 Mid-American Conference (MAC).

WMU started the match out hot, claiming the doubles point with wins at No. 2 and No. 3. The duo of Hamilton/Maik Steiner earned a 6-3 win at No. 2 and the latest MAC Doubles Team of the Week, Jannik Opitz/Eric Olivarez, won 6-4 at No. 3 to improve to a perfect 9-0 this season and put WMU up 1-0.
In singles play, Ball State claimed the first two courts off to take a 2-1 lead, which set the table for Hamilton to earn his 100th career singles win with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 2 and make it a 2-2 match. Matej Svjetlicic followed that with a 6-7 (3), 6-0, 6-4 win at No. 5 to improve to 20-10 overall this season. After Ball State won at No. 6, it came down to Steiner at No. 3 in a tied 3-3 match. Steiner came up clutch, defeating Marco Guzina in a tough 7-6 (5), 6-7 (5), 6-4 battle to clinch the match for the Broncos.
The Broncos will stay on the road and face Northern Illinois on Sunday, April 16 at 11 a.m. following the big win over Ball State.
