KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team earned a quick 4-3 win over Binghamton Monday afternoon as the Broncos had the match clinched before the Bearcats were able to win the last three singles matches. The match did go into a brief rain delay, starting at Sorensen Courts and finishing at West Hills Athletic Club due to rain in the area.

Doubles was tight throughout, but the Broncos were able to pull away with 6-4 wins at both No. 1 and No. 3. The No. 88 ranked team of Daniel Loebel/Kennosuke Nouchi won at No. 1 to improve to 11-7 this season and the team of Jannik Opitz/Eric Olivarez clinched the doubles point at No. 3, earning a win to improve to a perfect 8-0 together this season.
WMU stormed out of the gates in singles play, earning three straight two-set wins to clinch the match before the Bearcats were able to get on the board. Olivarez was the first off, winning a 6-0, 6-1 match at No. 6 to move to 21-7 this season while Nouchi was shortly after, winning 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 to win his 10th straight match and move to 22-7 overall. Matej Svjetlicic earned the match clincher, defeating Valentine Bouchet 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5.
WMU will now hit the road for two straight matches next weekend, first taking on Ball State on Friday, April 14 at 1 p.m. and then heading to DeKalb, Ill., to face Northern Illinois on Sunday, April 16 at 11 a.m.
