KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan women's tennis got back on track in Mid-American Conference (MAC) play Friday afternoon, as the Broncos downed Toledo 5-2 at West Hills to earn their first MAC win of the young conference season.

In doubles play, the matches were neck-and-neck to open, but the Broncos pulled away to take the doubles point and lead 1-0. The duo of Barbare Eristavi/Katja Fevralev took a 6-3 win at No. 3 and Olivia Myers/Denise Azcui clinched the point at No. 2 with a 6-4 win.
The Rockets quickly tied it up in singles, earning a win at No. 3 to make it 1-1. Following that, the Broncos rattled off four straight wins in singles on their way to clinching the match. Azcui led the charge, earning a 7-5, 6-3 win at No. 5 to put WMU back on top. Myers topped Kendall-Woseley at No. 2 and Eristavi served as the match clincher, beating Claire Aleck 6-4, 6-2 at No. 6. After the match was clinched, sophomore Melina Lyubomirova earned a tough 7-6 (7-2), 7-5 win at No. 1.
The Broncos will head to Ypsilanti to close out the weekend, taking on Eastern Michigan on Sunday, April 2 at 1 p.m.
