KALAMAZOO, Mich. – In the Mid-American Conference (MAC) opener, the Western Michigan women's tennis fell to reigning MAC Tournament Champion Ball State 6-1 at Sorensen Courts Friday afternoon.

The Broncos stormed out of the gates, winning the doubles point and taking an early lead on a majority of the courts in singles, but the Cardinals came back to sweep singles as every match but one went to a third set.
In doubles, the duo of Barbare Eristavi/Katja Fevralev got things rolling for WMU, winning 6-3 at No. 3 over Dohanics/Ormond. After Ball State won at No. 2, the team of Tracy Kuhle/Melina Lyubomirova earned the doubles point clincher with a 6-4 win over Gollhofer/Blanco.
In singles, the Broncos claimed the first set at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4, but Ball State climbed back to win on every court.
The Broncos will now hit the road to face the other half of the 2016 MAC Regular Season Champions, traveling to Miami on Sunday, March 26 at 1 p.m.
