KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team saw some familiar names in this week's Oracle/ITA rankings, as freshman Kennosuke Nouchi made his debut in the men's national singles poll at No. 120 while the duo of Nouchi/Daniel Loebel moved up to No. 74 in the doubles rankings.

Nouchi is third on the team in wins with an 18-7 record. He's 6-5 at No. 1 and 4-0 at No. 2 in the lineup and is currently riding a team-high six-match winning streak. Nouchi's best win came against No. 43 Cameron Klinger of Vanderbilt.
The duo of Nouchi/Loebel are tied for the team-high in doubles wins with a 10-5 record and have won four straight. They made their debut in the rankings after beating the No. 8 ranked team in the country of Jeffrey Schorsch/Charlie Emhardt of Valpo.
WMU will begin its road to defending its Mid-American Conference (MAC) Regular Season Championship this weekend as league play begins. WMU will open with Ball State on Friday, March 24 at 3 p.m. and end the weekend with a second home match against Toledo on Sunday, March 26 at 1 p.m.
