KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan men's tennis earned two 7-0 wins on Sunday, first beating Wright State and then defeating Grand Valley State to improve to 9-6 on the season with Mid-American Conference (MAC) play right around the corner.

In the first match against Wright State, the Broncos swept doubles and singles without dropping a set. The No. 76 duo of Daniel Loebel/Kennosuke Nouchi earned a win at No. 1 while teams of Matt Hamilton/Billy Heckman and Jannik Opitz/Eric Olivarez also earned wins.
In singles, Matej Svjetlicic and Maik Steiner opened with a pair of wins and Matt Hamilton had the match clincher at No. 1. Nouchi, Olivarez and Opitz all earned wins against the Raiders.
In the second match against GVSU, the same three doubles teams as above earned wins to put the Broncos up 1-0. Loebel/Nouchi improved to 10-5 this season, tying Heckman/Nick Schnobel for the team lead in wins.
In singles, Nouchi and Steiner each opened up with wins to put WMU up 3-0 and Loebel earned the match clincher at No. 4. Svjetlicic, Opitz and Olivarez all earned wins as well. Olivarez became the second Bronco to reach 20 wins this season, along with Opitz.
The Broncos will be starting MAC play next weekend, opening with Ball State on Friday, March 24 at 3 p.m. and then welcoming in Toledo on Sunday, March 26 at 1 p.m.
