EVANSVILLE, Ind. – The Western Michigan baseball team had its first game of a three game series at Evansville suspended due to heavy fog, as the Broncos were up 9-0 going into the eighth inning. The two teams will finish the first game at 3 p.m., eastern and then play game two of the series immediately following.

Through the first seven innings of play, Tanner Allison went 2-of-4 at the plate and threw out an Evansville player trying to score in the first inning. The Broncos held a 2-0 lead through the first five innings of play, before breaking out for seven runs in the sixth and seventh innings to push the lead to 9-0.

Starter Jack Szott went 4.2 innings, allowing just four hits while striking out four and walking just one. Reliever Kyle Mallwitz came on in relief and in his 2.1 innings he did not allow a run while striking out three and also walking just one.
