KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Sophomore Jack Szott, an accounting major with a 3.84 GPA, of the Western Michigan baseball team was named the Mid-American Conference (MAC) Male Scholar Athlete of the Week announced by the conference office.

Szott had his second straight great outing for the Broncos, helping the team go 2-1 over the week and 5-1 during the spring break trip in Florida. Szott earned the win over Villanova on Saturday, pitching 7.0 innings allowing just one run on six hits with no walks or hit batsman while striking out four batters.
Szott allowed a run in the first inning, then held the Wildcats to six straight scoreless innings that including two double plays and two one-two-three innings.
WMU is set for a three-game series at Evansville in the final action before Mid-American Conference (MAC) play begins. The Broncos and Purple Aces will square off on Friday, March 17 at 6 p.m., Saturday, March 18 at 2 p.m., and Sunday, March 19 at 1 p.m. at Braun Stadium.
