"We couldn't be happier for her and her family, as well as her coaching staff," head coach Shane Clipfell said. "The five finalists were without question as good a field as could have been assembled and they have all had incredible high school careers. While there is no guarantee how a player will transition from high school to college, I know that when someone has a great work ethic and equally important, has great character, the likelihood of a great transition is much higher. We know that Jordan has those two very important qualities and we have always been anxious to have her be part of our Bronco Family."

Walker became the third Western Michigan women's basketball player to win the award after Kristin Koetsier (1998) and Brenna Banktson (2006) each won it as well. She received 375 first-place votes and totaled 2,482 points, beating out recruits from Georgia Tech, two committed to Minnesota and another to Michigan.

In January, Walker from her high school's all-time scoring record that stood for 22 years. She averaged 22.1 points, 8.5 rebounds, 5.5 assists and shot 43 percent from the floor during her senior campaign.
