KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan gymnastics team will have its final home meet of the season on Saturday at 4 p.m., when it hosts Southeast Missouri State on Senior Day. The Broncos will honor their five seniors,
Brittany Aragon,
Anna Corbett,
Audry Merritt,
Jessie Peszek and
Lauren Vandenberg following the meet on Saturday.
This meet is the second home meet of the week for Western Michigan after hosting a tri-meet on Tuesday vs. Ball State and UIC. In that meet, Corbett led the Broncos in all-around with a 39.150 thanks to a 9.850 on balance beam.
Rachael Underwood was one of two Broncos to win an event, scoring a 9.875 on floor. She joined Peszek who scored a 9.875 as well on beam.
WMU enters the weekend No. 36 in the country by its Regional Qualifying Score. The top 36 in the country advance to NCAA Regionals, and the Broncos own an RQS of 195.035, just ahead of Big 10 opponent Penn State who is right behind with a 195.020.
Southeast Missouri State comes into Saturday's meet ranked No. 64 in the country. The Redbirds have an RQS of 191.440 and are coming off their two best meets of the season, scoring a 193.425 vs. Rutgers and Texas Woman's in a tri-meet and scoring a season-high 193.800 vs. Air Force last Sunday.
