KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Western Michigan women's tennis remained unbeaten at home this season with a 7-0 win over UIC Sunday morning at West Hills. The Broncos improved to 5-2 this season and 4-0 at home.

The score didn't indicate how close the match was, as four singles matches came down to a third set. In doubles play, the duo of senior Tracy Kuhle/sophomore Katja Fevralev made quick work at No. 3 winning 6-0. Junior Olivia Myers/sophomore Denise Azcui put the Broncos up 1-0 with a 6-4 win at No. 2 to clinch the doubles point.
"Today was a great college tennis match. We were able to play good tennis at important times. I very proud of the team," head coach Ryan Tomlinson said. "We played with some grit and guts today. This is a tough stretch of four matches in eight days. Today really showed me what we are made of. FightOn!"
In singles, the Broncos claimed three straight matches that went into the third set, all of which came within a five-minute span, to clinch the match. Eristavi got it rolling with a 6-2, 3-6, 6-2 win at No. 6 to improve to a team-best 16-3 and 5-2 this spring. Following that, sophomore Melina Lyubomirova won at No. 1 in comeback fashion 2-6, 6-2, 6-3 and Azcui clinched the match at No. 5, winning 7-5, 6-4.
After the Broncos clinched the match they kept pouring it on, as Myers earned a 6-2, 7-6 win at No. 2, Kuhle won 3-6, 7-5, 6-4 at No. 3 and Fevralev ended the match with a 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 4.
WMU will head to Milwaukee, Wis., next weekend to face Marquette on Saturday and Milwaukee on Sunday.
