MURFREESBORO, Tenn. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team picked up its first road win of the season Sunday afternoon at Middle Tennessee State, where the Broncos defeated the Blue Raiders 4-3. WMU improved to 4-3 overall, with all three losses coming against Power Five conferences.

The Broncos suffered an early deficit, as the Blue Raiders claimed the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. The duo of senior Matt Hamilton/freshman Jannik Opitz improved to 2-0 this season with a 6-4 win at No. 2.
WMU came out on a mission in singles play, winning four straight to clinch the match. Sophomore Matej Svjetlicic got it started, earning a 6-4, 6-4 win at No. 4 to improve to 5-2 this spring. Svjetlicic was followed by wins from Opitz at No. 5, Hamilton at No. 3 and sophomore Eric Olivarez at No. 6, the match clincher.
The Broncos return to Kalamazoo for a three-match home stand, first hosting B1G Michigan State on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Noon and then welcoming both Valpo (1 p.m.) and Wayne State (6:30 p.m.) on Sunday, Feb. 12.
