SOUTH BEND, Ind. – Several members of the Western Michigan track and field team saw improved performances on the opening day of the Meyo Invitational at the University of Notre Dame on Friday night.
Senior Sarita Dotson and freshman Madison Meredith both broke the 25 second mark in the 200-meter dash. Dotson ran a time of 24.78 seconds, while Meredith finished just behind her at 24.85. Meredith also qualified for Saturday's finals in the 60-meter dash after running a time of 7.64 seconds.
Junior Hanne Christensen turned in a personal-best performance in the 5,000-meter run. The Grand Blanc, Mich., native ran a time of 17:17.32 to finish seventh overall in her heat. Freshman Erin Dowd was WMU's top performer in the 600-meter run, turning in a time of 1:36.25.
The Broncos are back at it again on Saturday at both the Meyo Invitational and the Hillsdale Classic.
