"It was a great team win, we had four points in about 90 minutes," head coach Ryan Tomlinson said. "It's about the team. We played better doubles, but are still looking for the right combinations. UIC is a talented team and we have to be ready to play on Sunday; I know we will be. Fight On!"
In their first action together this season, the duo of senior Tracy Kuhle and sophomore Katja Fevralev kicked off the action with a quick 6-0 win at No. 3 while senior Barbare Eristavi/sophomore Melina Lyubomirova clinched the doubles point with a 6-3 win at No. 1; it was also their first match together.
In singles play, the Broncos claimed the first three matches to quickly clinch the win. Eristavi improved to a team-best 15-3 with a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 6 and junior Olivia Myers was right behind with a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 3. Fevralev was the match clincher at No. 5, winning 6-1, 6-3 over Blanche Lenoan. After the Vikings won at No. 4, Lyubomirova earned a hard-fought 7-6, 4-6, 10-8 win at No. 1.
