KALAMAZOO, Mich. – Senior gymnast
Jessie Peszek was named the Mid-American Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Week for her performance at Texas Woman's University last Sunday, the league announced. Peszek is the first Bronco this season to win the award.

Sunday, Peszek had a school record, posted two scores of 9.900 or higher and had all three of her scores at 9.800 or higher as Western Michigan posted the ninth-best total in program history with a 195.475 at the quad meet in Texas. Peszek scored a WMU record with a 9.925 on bars to win the event, and had the third-highest score in Western Michigan history on beam with a 9.900, placing second at the meet. She also posted another top-10 when she totaled a 9.800 on floor, finishing eighth.

The Scholar Athlete of the Week Award is presented to a MAC male and/or female student-athlete who has a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better and performs well during that week's competition. An institution can nominate up to one male and one female student-athlete per week in any of that current season's sports. The winners are selected by a representative of the MAC's Faculty Athletics Representatives (FARs).
