The Broncos are coming off a 9-1 home win over Grace College on Wednesday, where WMU threw seven pitchers, with each having at least one strikeout. Starter Jacob Piechota, picked up the win after it was predetermined before the game to be limited to two innings. He struck out four hitters and gave up just one hit without walking a batter in his two innings of work. The staff did not allow an earned run the whole day, with the one run scored by Grace College coming on a ball that skipped away from Filkins, allowing the runner from third to cross the plate.
Offensively, the Broncos are hitting .276 as a team with Alex Goodwin leading the way at .455 (5-for-11). Grant Miller is just behind with a .438 average while Connor Smith is hitting .375 and leads the team in RBI (4). Goodwin, Miller and Nick Vogelmeier each have three RBI while Vogelmeier also leads the team with two home runs. Tanner Allison comes in as the team's leader in runs (4) and is batting .333 with a home run and two RBI.
ETSU was an offensive juggernaut last season, where they finished seventh in the nation in home runs, eighth in slugging percentage, 15th in scoring, 21st in batting average and 33rd in stolen bases. This season, the Buccaneers are 4-1 and took two games out of three from Central Michigan and won both games against Oakland this week.
