COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Michigan freshman Ben Blacker has been named Bauer National Collegiate Hockey Conference Goalie of the Week for his performance in WMU's sweep over North Dakota.

Blacker finished the weekend with a .950 save percentage and a 2.00 goals against average as the Broncos swept the Fighting Hawks for the first time in program history.

In Friday's 4-2 win, the Oakville, Ontario, native made 32 saves. Eight of his saves came on two UND power plays on his way to earning his 12th win of the season. On Saturday he made a career-high 44 saves en route to his 13th victory. Blacker was stellar between the pipes and made 32 of the saves in the final two periods, including robbing North Dakota defenseman Tucker Poolman of a goal midway through the third period.

This is the third NCHC Goalie of the Week award that he has earned this season. Blacker also has two NCHC Rookie of the Week awards and was named NCHC Rookie of the Month in December.

The sixth-ranked Broncos head to Colorado College to take on the Tigers in Colorado Springs, Colo., on Friday at 9:30 p.m. and on Saturday at 8 p.m. Both games can be seen live on NCHC.tv and heard on the Bronco Radio Network.
