GET CAUGHT UP
With the MAC Tournament getting closer and closer, the Broncos are currently sitting eighth in the standings with six games to play, four of which will come at home. The Broncos are looking to get back on track at Bowling Green, as the team has lost five straight and six of seven overall. With the Broncos facing the Falcons, it snaps a streak of five straight opponents who boast winning records, but that doesn't mean the road gets easier for WMU, as the last four opponents on the schedule are all top-six in the MAC, including the two teams tied for first (CMU & NIU).
SHIPMAN'S SHOOTING STREAK
Senior
Meredith Shipman has been hot as of late, hitting multiple 3-pointers in eight straight games and 16 games this season. She is now fifth in career 3-pointers made at WMU (155) and is chasing Julia Henson (2011-14) for fourth place with 165. In MAC play, she is tied for fifth in 3-pointers made (55) and 11th in 3-point field goal percentage (.384). She leads the team with five 20+ point performances this season.
BALANCED ATTACK
The Broncos feature four players that score in double-figures, all of which have started every game they've played in this season. Redshirt junior
Marley Hill is leading the charge at 15.4 ppg and went for a career-high 25 points two games ago at Toledo. Sophomore
Breanna Mobley is scoring 14.4 ppg and is coming off 27 points at CMU, which tied a career-high. Senior
Meredith Shipman is averaging 11.6 ppg while sophomore
Deja Wimby is scoring 10.7 ppg.Â
THE MATCHUP
Bowling Green leads the all-time series 35-28, but the Broncos have won the last five meetings including a 75-58 victory earlier this season in Kalamazoo. WMU is 18-11 on the road against the Falcons, but won last season's meeting at the Stroh Center to snap a three-game losing streak in Bowling Green. In the matchup earlier this season,
Deja Wimby finished with a double-double, scoring 20 points and dishing out 10 assists while
Breanna Mobley added 19 points and six rebounds.Â
SCOUTING THE FALCONS
The Falcons, who are coached by fifth year head coach Jennifer Roos, come into Wednesday's contest 6-18 overall, 2-10 in the MAC and 3-9 when playing at home. Bowling Green has dropped eight of its last nine games and are coming off a 74-59 loss at Toledo. Carly Santoro is the team's leading scorer at 12.7 ppg and also leads the team in rebounding with 7.3 per game. The Falcons come in ranked No. 9 in scoring offense (65.8) and No. 8 in scoring defense (73.2).Â
