"When you go on the road I think you are starting down 1-0, that was the difference today," head coach Ryan Tomlinson said. "Not too often are we going to get beat at Nos. 1, 2 and 3 singles. We did however play better doubles today. It's a quick turn around and we have to lace them up against a very good Iowa team tomorrow. FightOn!"
The Broncos came out hot in doubles, winning at both No. 1 and No. 3 to claim the doubles point and go up 1-0. The duo of Katja Fevralev/Tracy Kuhle stayed perfect this season at 3-0 with a 6-3 win at No. 3 while Barbare Eristavi/Melina Lyubomirova clinched the point with a 6-4 win at No. 1, also staying perfect this season (2-0).
The Golden Eagles stormed back in singles, taking the first two points at No. 1 and No. 5. Fevralev made it 2-2 with a 7-6, 6-4 win at No. 4 to move to 11-5 this season and extend her winning streak to four matches. Marquette won at No. 2 to make it 3-2 and clinched the match with a win at No. 3. Eristavi stayed atop the team leaderboard in wins with a 6-1, 6-7, 6-2 win over Franks at No. 6, improving her record to 17-3 as she's now won four straight.
The road doesn't get easier for the Broncos, who face Iowa in a neutral setting on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 1 p.m.
