KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan men's tennis team swept the Mid-American Conference (MAC) weekly awards, as sophomore Matej Svjetlicic won MAC Singles Player of the Week and the duo of junior Billy Heckman/sophomore Nick Schnobel won MAC Doubles Team of the Week.

Svjetlicic was one of just two Bronco players with a perfect 2-0 record in singles over the weekend (Eric Olivarez), defeating Marino Alpeza of Minnesota and following that up with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Joshua Schramm of Green Bay Sunday. The win over Schramm clinched the match and helped head coach Dave Morin become the winningest men's tennis coach in Western Michigan history, as Morin passed legendary Jack Vredevelt with 349 career wins. Svjetlicic improved to 11-4 this season and 4-1 in the spring, tying for the team-lead in wins in the spring.
Heckman/Schnobel were the lone Broncos with an unblemished record this weekend in doubles, as they earned the doubles point clincher against the Big Ten's Minnesota with a 6-4 win over Milicevic/Levin. The duo improved to a team-best 10-3 overall and 3-1 in the spring.
The Broncos, who moved to 3-2 this season, will head to Tennessee next weekend to face Vanderbilt on Saturday, Feb. 4 at noon and Middle Tennessee State on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 10 a.m.
