KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan senior left tackle
Chukwuma Okorafor has been named a Walter Camp Second Team All-American. The nation's oldest All-America squad in its 128th year, Walter Camp selections were announced this evening on The Home Depot ESPN College Football Awards Show.
It is the second year in the row that Western Michigan has produced a Walter Camp recognition. Okorafor becomes the third Bronco ever to earn the honor. Wide receiver
Corey Davis was a second team selection last season and wide receiver Jordan White was a second team pick in 2012.
The 6-6, 330-pound Okorafor has been a three-year starter for Western Michigan and is a two-time Mid-American Conference First Team selection. Headed into 2017 he was named the No. 4 tackle to watch in the nation by Mel Kiper. Okorafor has drawn much attention from NFL Scouts this season and was named 1 of 6 semifinalists for the Outland Trophy.
The Broncos have had one of the top rushing offenses over the last three years. WMU ranked 29th in the nation in 2015, 24th in 2016 and 23rd in the nation this season, averaging 224.8 yards per game. Seven different players rushed for 26 touchdowns.
Okorafor also accepted an invite to the Reese's Senior Bowl on Thursday. The Reese's Senior Bowl will be played at 1:30 p.m. on January 27, 2018 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium in Mobile, Ala., and televised by the NFL Network. WMU senior kick returner/defensive back
