KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan volleyball team and head coach Colleen Munson have announced the signing of Illyria Kalaj for the 2018 season.
Kalaj is a 5-foot-3 libero/defensive specialist and hails from Lake Orion, Mich. Kalaj was a two-year letterwinner at Lake Orion High School, helping the team to a league championship in 2016 and 40 wins in 2017. Kalaj was named honorable mention in the Detroit News' Top Volleyball Players list for 2017.
"We are excited to have Illyria join our Bronco Family," said Munson. "Her skill set will add depth to roster and her competitive spirit fits our team's culture."
During the 2017 season she recorded a career-high 701 digs, also totaling 64 aces and 602 serve receives. She capped off her senior season with Second Team All-State honors and OK Red Division All-Association honors.
