KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan hockey team heads into its semester break ranked No. 12 in both the US College Hockey Online and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls.
The Broncos split with Miami over the weekend, falling on Friday and winning on Saturday. WMU is one of five teams ranked in the top 20 from the National Collegiate Hockey Conference, with the other three (Colorado College, Miami and Omaha) are all receiving votes.
This is the fifth-straight week the Broncos have been in the nation's top 15. WMU (10-8-1, 6-4-0-0 NCHC) has also spent three weeks in the top 10.
Western Michigan, currently tied for third in the NCHC standings with Denver, is back in action on Thursday, Dec. 28 at WCHA leaders Bowling Green. The Broncos resume NCHC play on Jan. 12-13 at conference leaders St. Cloud State. WMU returns to Lawson Ice Arena on Jan. 19-20 to host Colorado College. Friday's game is at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. Saturday's game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
