Wade Allison Named NCHC Offensive Player of the Week

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Michigan sophomore forward Wade Allison has been named National Collegiate Hockey Conference Offensive Player of the Week after his performance in WMU's split with Miami over the weekend.

Allison finished the weekend with five points on three goals and two assists. After an assist in Friday's loss he had a career-high four points with his second hat trick of the season and an assist in the 4-3 overtime win. Allison started his natural hat trick midway through the second period to cut Miami's lead to 3-2. He tied up the game with his second goal of the night at 15:38 in the third period to tie up the game at 3-3. He finished off the hat trick with 1:07 left in overtime, scoring the game-winner on the breakaway.

The game pushed Allison's season goal total to a career-high 14. This is the second time he has been named NCHC Offensive Player of the Week this season.

Western Michigan, currently tied for third in the NCHC standings with Denver, is back in action on Thursday, Dec. 28 at WCHA leaders Bowling Green. The Broncos resume NCHC play on Jan. 12-13 at conference leaders St. Cloud State. WMU returns to Lawson Ice Arena on Jan. 19-20 to host Colorado College. Friday's game is at 6:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network. Saturday's game is scheduled for 7 p.m.
