Okorafor and Phillips Officially Accept Reese's Senior Bowl Invitations

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan offensive tackle Chukwuma Okorafor and defensive back/kick returner Darius Phillips have both officially accepted invitations to play in the 2018 Reese's Senior Bowl.

It was announced on Dec. 4 that Phillips had committed to the roster, while Okorafor's announcement came on Dec. 11. The latest group of accepted invites pushes the overall Reese's Senior Bowl roster total to 79. As the game approaches, that number will grow to around 110 players who will come to Mobile to compete in practices, interview with the 32 NFL clubs and then play in the 69th Annual Reese's Senior Bowl on January 27, 2018 at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The game starts at 2:30 p.m. ET and is televised live on NFL Network.

Western Michigan has had seven players compete in the Senior Bowl over the history of the program, including players in back-to-back years the last two seasons. WMU's seven participants ranks second most all-time by a MAC school. The Broncos make up two of the three selections this year from the MAC.

Both Okorafor and Phillips have drawn heavy attention from NFL Scouts. Okorafor has received All-American accolades this past week from the FWAA, Walter Camp, Sports Illustrated and SB Nation. He has been a three-year starter for the Broncos and earned First Team All-MAC status the last two years. Phillips was the MAC Special Teams Player of the Year in 2017 and 2016 and was a First Team All-MAC defensive back this season. He is the all-time FBS leader for career runback touchdowns with 12 and has totaled 14 career touchdowns, scoring five different ways.
