CLEVELAND – The Western Michigan volleyball team had three student-athletes named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference team on Friday morning, with Sydney LeMay, Mary Murphy and Kathleen Reilly earning the honors.

The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.

LeMay earns the honors for the third and final time of her career. The senior boasts a 3.26 GPA in biochemistry. The Middlleville, Mich., native was also a First Team All-MAC selection, becoming just the fourth player in MAC history to earn First Team All-MAC four times. Murphy is an Academic All-MAC selection for the second-straight year. The junior setter holds a 3.45 GPA in business, while Reilly earns honors for the first time of her career. The sophomore libero led the group with a 3.76 GPA in nursing.

All three are now eligible for MAC Distinguished Scholar Athlete honors, which are voted on by the institutions' faculty academic representatives (FAR).
