"The Great Lakes Region is one of the most competitive in the country with a lot of great teams," commented WMU associate head coach Taryn Sheehan. "This will be another opportunity for our ladies to show off all the hard work they have put in this season. All seven girls are prepared for Friday and are fired up and confident after our performance at the MAC Championships. I am excited to see what they can do."

The Broncos are coming off a memorable Mid-American Conference Championship race, as senior Hanne Christensen became the first Bronco to win the MAC Individual Title since 1993. The entire squad finished seventh overall with a 164 team score with many runners breaking individual records.

Junior Sarah Anderson finished with the team's second-best performance time of 21:27.6, good for 14th place. Senior Claire Gilbert recorded a PR crossing the finish line in 17th with a time of 21:33.7. Rounding out the top-five for the Broncos was freshman Juliane Sormain with a PR time of 22:40.5 and sophomore Birittney Hall who crossed at 23:38.6.

Sophomore Autumn Lewis (23:53.7/94th), broke her previous personal record time by over 40 seconds, and freshmen Rebecca McNamee (24:05.2/96th), Emily Fonzi (24:53.6/102nd) and Courtney Allen (25:04.9/103rd) finished out the other runners for WMU at the championship.

The race will be held at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course with the women scheduled to begin at 11:15 a.m. A total of 34 teams will be participating on Friday including Michigan, Michigan State, Ohio State, and Wisconsin, who all rank in the nation's top-30 in coaches' poll released by the USTFCCCA. As a squad, the Broncos need a top-two finish to guarantee a spot at the NCAA Championships on Nov. 19.

The seven WMU runners that will represent the Brown & Gold this weekend include Anderson, Christensen, Gilbert, Hall, Lewis, McNamee and Sormain.
