Brandon Bye Named to TDS National Team of the Week

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan senior men's soccer player Brandon Bye was named to the TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week. It is the second time this season Bye has garnered the recognition. Five other Broncos have also earned the honor this year.

Bye scored the game-winning goal in the 65th minute lifting Western Michigan to a 1-0 victory over Bowling Green this past Saturday. With the win, WMU finished the regular season with a 15-2-1 overall record, going 5-0-0 in Mid-American Conference play. The Broncos clinched the MAC regular season title outright, its first ever in school history. It snapped Akron's 12-year run as conference champions, dating back to 2005. 

Bye's goal was his conference-leading 12th of the season. Pepe Martinez played the ball across the box and Bye flicked it in off the far post.

Western Michigan moved up one more spot in the national poll this week and is currently ranked No. 4 in the country. The Broncos will host the MAC Tournament this weekend as the No. 1 seed and host No. 4 seed West Virginia Friday, Nov. 10 in the second semifinal match at 2 p.m. No. 2 Akron and No. 3 SIU-Edwardsville face one another in the first semifinal game at 11 a.m. Friday. Semifinal winners advance to the MAC Championship on Sunday at 1 p.m.
