KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan hockey team has jumped into both national polls after sweeping No. 1 Denver. WMU comes in at 15 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll and 18 in the USCHO.com polls.

The Broncos (5-3-1, 2-0-0-0 NCHC) swept the defending national champions in dramatic fashion with wins of 6-5 and 7-4. Western Michigan erased deficits in both, trailing 4-2 on Friday and 3-0 on Saturday.  This is the first appearance for WMU in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll this season. The Broncos were also ranked 20th in the USCHO.com preseason poll.

Western Michigan heads out on the road for the first time in National Collegiate Hockey Conference play this season, taking on Minnesota-Duluth on Friday and Saturday at 8:07 p.m. Both games can be seen live on NCHC.tv.
