Men’s Basketball Set to Face Saint Louis Tuesday Night

ST. LOUIS –  For the second time this season, Western Michigan men's basketball will hit the road to take on Saint Louis out of the Atlantic 10 Conference on Tuesday, Nov. 28. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on Fox Sports Midwest.

Scouting the Broncos
Western Michigan is 3-3 on the season with victories over Siena Heights, Appalachian State and Northwood. In their last contest on Saturday, the Broncos dominated the paint en route to an 88-59 victory over Northwood inside University Arena. Through six games, WMU is averaging 79.5 points per game and holding opponents to a .419 shooting percentage which ranks second in the Mid-American Conference.

Wilder Moving Up the WMU Record Book
With 1,560 career points, senior guard Thomas Wilder now ranks seventh all-time at WMU in scoring. Wilder needs 562 points to become WMU's all-time leading scorer and just 128 points to move into the top five. This season, the Montgomery, Ill., native ranks second in the MAC with 19.8 points per game.

That's 70's Show
In the past two seasons, the Broncos have been successful when scoring over 70 points, registering a 30-15 record. When scoring over 80 points, WMU is 21-7.

Teamwork Makes the Dreamwork
WMU is one of only four MAC schools to have at least three score in double figures in every game this season. The Broncos also have ten players with at least 10 or more points this season, which ranks second in the conference.

Broncos Don't Falter Halftime Leads
When having the lead at halftime the past two seasons, WMU is an outstanding 15-3.  

Closing In On 400
Head coach Steve Hawkins is closing in on career win number 400 and needs just seven more wins to do so. Hawkins ranks second all-time in wins at WMU with 256 and is right behind Herbert Read with 345.  

Upperclassmen Leading the Way
The five upperclassmen on the 2017-18 roster have led the way during the early parts of the season for the Broncos registering 304 of the team's 477 points.

Scouting Saint Louis
Saint Louis is 3-2 on the season with victories over Seattle, Rockhurst and Virginia Tech. In their last game the Billikens fell to Detroit Mercy, 72-70 in the final game of the 2K Classic benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project. SLU has two averaging in double figures with Javon Bess (14.2ppg) and Jalen Johnson (10.2ppg) while Hasahn French leads the team with 8.0 rebounds per game. At home this season, Saint Louis is 2-1.

What's Next
The Broncos will return home on Saturday, Dec.2 for a mid-major showdown against Horizon League favorite, Oakland at 2:00 p.m. It will be the first of two straight home games for the Broncos as WMU hosts Cleveland State on Wednesday, Dec.6.
