Golf Signs Brooke Gibbons for 2018

KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan golf team and head coach Elise Swarthout-Mosher have signed Brooke Gibbons to a National letter of Intent.

Gibbons was named to the Saginaw Valley League All-Conference Team all four years at Lapeer High School. She earned First Team All-SVL honors in 2015, 2016 and 2017 and Second Team All-SVL in 2014 as a freshman.

"Brooke is a wonderful addition to the Bronco family," said Swarthout-Mosher. "She is very hard working on the golf course and in the classroom. She exemplifies what it means to be a teammate and a leader. I'm excited to see her make an immediate impact with the team next fall."

Gibbons captained her team during from 2015-17 and earned First Team Division I All-State her senior season and Honorable Mention All-State in 2016. She finished in fifth place at the 2017 Division I State Championship after finishing with a 36-hole total with of 155. She helped her team to a ninth place finish in 2016. Gibbons also holds the 18-hole record of 72 at The Fortress & Midland Country Club and the 36-hole record of 153 at The Meadows.

The WMU golf team is currently on its winter break but kicks back into action on Feb. 5 in Lakewood, Fla., for the Mid-American Conference Match Play Tournament hosted by Bowling Green.
