COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Western Michigan sophomore Ben Blacker has been named National Collegiate Hockey Conference Goalie of the Week for his performance in WMU's split with No. 12 Minnesota-Duluth over the weekend.

WMU opened up with a 3-0 loss to the Bulldogs but Blacker shined, making a season-high 35 saves to keep the game close. On Saturday he made 31 saves as the Broncos blanked UMD, 5-0. The shutout was the first of the season for Western Michigan and the fifth of Blacker's career. For the pair of games, he had a 1.51 goals against average and a .957 save percentage, giving up just two even-strength goals.

The Broncos resume National Collegiate Hockey Conference play this weekend, hosting Omaha on Friday and Saturday. Saturday is WMU's annual Military Appreciation, where the Broncos will honor those who have served and are serving. Tickets are available by calling 1-888-4-WMUTIX and online at wmubroncso.com
