KALAMAZOO, Mich.- For the second time this season, Western Michigan senior running back
Jarvion Franklin has been named the Mid-American Conference West Division Player of the Week. Franklin totaled 191 yards rushing with one touchdown on 22 carries in the Broncos' 48-20 win over Kent State this past week.
Franklin's 191-yard game was his sixth over 100 yards, pushing him over the 1,000-yard mark (1,061) for the season. No other MAC player has more than 900 yards rushing this season.
Franklin ripped off a career-long 72-yard touchdown run to give the Broncos a 21-14 lead in the first quarter and from there WMU would hold the lead the remainder of the game. With the win, Western Michigan also became bowl eligible for a program-record fourth consecutive year.
With the performance against Kent State, Franklin moved into the top 5 all-time in the Mid-American Conference for career rushing touchdowns with 51 and rushing yards with 4,700. Franklin also moved into second all-time at Western Michigan for career all-purpose yards with 5,370, passing Corey Davis with 5,212.
Western Michigan (6-4, 4-2 MAC) travels to DeKalb, Ill., to face Northern Illinois (7-3, 5-1 MAC) Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 7 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
