Brandon Bye Honored as MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- The recognitions continue to roll in for Western Michigan men's soccer player Brandon Bye, who on Oct. 25 was named Scholar Athlete of the Week by the Mid-American Conference. In the past few days, Bye was also named to the College Soccer News and Top Drawer Soccer National Teams of the Week and as the MAC Player of the Week.

Bye earns the honors after scoring three of WMU's four goals last week, netting two in a 3-0 win over Green Bay and the game-winner in overtime in a 1-0 road win at No. 15 West Virigina.

In his senior season, Bye has helped lead Western Michigan to a school-record setting 13 wins (13-2-1 overall, 3-0-0 MAC), as well as a national No. 6 ranking, highest ever in WMU history.

Bye leads the conference in goals scored (11) and points (27) and is tied for third in assists (5). Nationally, he ranks 7th for game-winning goals, 12th for goals per game and 14th for points per game. He is second in both shots per game (4.80) and shots on goal per game (2.53).

Academically, Bye is a food marketing and supply chain major and has a 3.74 overall grade-point average.

The Broncos have two regular-season games remaining, both against in-conference opponents. WMU hosts SIU-Edwardsville on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. and Bowling Green on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. The No. 1 seed hosts the MAC postseason tournament, Nov. 10 & 12.

Admission is free to all regular-season home Western Michigan soccer contests.
