KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Western Michigan senior forward
Brandon Bye has been named to the
TopDrawerSoccer National Team of the Week, as well as Player of the Week by the Mid-American Conference. Earlier this week Bye was also named to the
College Soccer News National Team of the Week.
Bye had three goals over two games this past week, tallying two in a 3-0 victory over Green Bay and the game-winning goal in overtime in a 1-0 road win over No. 15 West Virginia.
Bye is the Mid-American Conference leader for goals (11) and points (27) and is tied for third in assists (5). Nationally, he ranks 7th for game-winning goals, 12th for goals per game and 14th for points per game. He is second in both shots per game (4.80) and shots on goal per game (2.53).
Western Michigan has a 13-2-1 (3-0-0 MAC) record this season and is currently ranked No. 6 in the nation, the highest ever in school history. The Broncos' 13 wins are also a school record.
Bye has 21 career goals, 19 of those coming over his junior and senior seasons. He ranks in the top 10 for single-season and career goal scoring at WMU.
The Broncos have two regular-season games remaining, both against in-conference opponents. WMU hosts SIU-Edwardsville on Saturday, Oct. 28 at 1 p.m. and Bowling Green on Saturday, Nov. 4 at 1 p.m. The No. 1 seed hosts the MAC postseason tournament, Nov. 10 & 12.
