The Mid-American Conference announced redshirt junior goalkeeper Elijah Michaels as Men's Soccer Co-Player of the Week alongside Jorge Gonzalez of SIU Edwardsville.
 
In his first career start Western Michigan redshirt junior goalkeeper Elijah Michaels recorded a shutout to help lead the Broncos to a 1-0 shutout against Akron in the MAC opener. It was also Michael's first career complete game in goal. He made four saves in the first half and stopped one in the second for a career-high five saves.

The win improved No. 12 ranked WMU to 10-2-1 on the season and 1-0 in the MAC. It was just the third regular season win against Akron in school history and the first over the Zips since 2014.
