KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan hockey team held steady in the national rankings through its bye week, coming in at No. 14 in both the US College Hockey Online poll and the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine poll.
The newest rankings set up a showdown at Lawson Ice Arena this Friday and Saturday against No. 1 Denver. This marks the eight consecutive poll in which the Broncos have been ranked nationally, reaching as high as 13th. WMU was off last weekend and prior to that claimed the Great Lakes Invitational Championship after defeating Michigan State and Michigan Tech. The Broncos sit in fourth place in the National Collegiate Hockey Conference standings heading into the weekend's pivotal matchup.
Friday's game is set for a 6:30 p.m. start time and will be broadcast live on American Sports Network. Saturday's game returns to the regular 7 p.m. start time and will be live on NCHC.tv.
