KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan hockey team continued its climb in the national rankings, coming in at No. 9 in both the US College Hockey Online and USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine polls.
The Broncos are up one spot after splitting with National Collegiate Hockey Conference rival Miami over the weekend. WMU opened up the series with a 2-1 win before falling on Saturday, 4-3. Western Michigan also ranks fourth in the Pairwise Ranking, an indicator used for at-large bids for the NCAA Tournament.
Western Michigan spends its second-straight week in the top ten for the first time since the 2012-13 season and it's the 11th consecutive poll that has included the team, dating back to Nov. 14.
The Broncos host Arizona State on Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. The series is the first in program history between WMU and ASU. Tickets are available by calling 1-888-4-WMUTIX or by heading to wmubroncos.com/tickets.
