Women's Tennis Falls at B1G Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Western Michigan women's tennis suffered its first loss of the young season on the road Saturday afternoon, as B1G foe Indiana topped the Broncos 7-0 after WMU started the season 2-0.

In doubles, Western Michigan claimed the match at No. 2 as Olivia Myers/Denise Azcui improved to 6-1 this season with a 6-2 victory over Bernard/Robinson. IU won the final doubles match in a tiebreaker, 7-6 (7-4) to win the doubles point.

In singles, the Hoosiers won all six matches, but two Broncos were able to push their match to a third set. At No. 2, senior Tracy Kuhle won the second set, but fell 6-1, 4-6, 7-6 (7-5) in a hard-fought match. At No. 6, senior Barbare Eristavi fell in another tough match, 6-3, 5-7, 1-0 (10-6), but still leads the team in wins.

The Broncos will stay on the road with another tough match Sunday morning, facing the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame at 10 a.m. on Jan. 22.
