KENT, Ohio – The Western Michigan gymnastics team turned in its best performance of the season on Friday night at Kent State, scoring a 193.750. Senior
Anna Corbett had her best all-around performance of the year with a 39.000 which included her third straight vault title after scoring a 9.825.
Corbett's 9.825 marked the third straight meet she has improved her score this year, scoring a 9.800 last year after posting a 9.775 in the season opening meet. She shared her vault title with sophomore
Rachael Underwood who had a career-high with her 9.825.
The highest score of the night belonged to another senior,
Jessie Peszek who posted a 9.850 on bars. She led the Broncos to a 48.650 overall on bars, tying for the highest team total in any event this season.
Sophomore
Amanda Ruble made her career debut on Friday night, competing on the balance beam. She scored a 9.725 as the last competitor of the night, to give the Broncos the 193.750. Junior
Jessica Juncaj had a very consistent night posting three scores of 9.700 or higher in her three events.
After having three meets in the first 12 days of the season, the Broncos will now have a nine-day break before returning home to University Arena on Sunday, Jan. 29, at 1 p.m., against Eastern Michigan.
