KALAMAZOO, Mich. – The Western Michigan football team has finished inside the top-20 in both the
Associated Press poll and
USA Today Amway Coaches poll for the 2016 season. The Broncos were voted No. 15 in the final AP poll and No. 19 in the final Coaches poll.
This year the Broncos finished 13-1, setting a new record for most wins in a season. The team won its first Mid-American Conference Championship since 1988, and earned its first bid to a New Year's Six bowl in program history, playing the University of Wisconsin in the Goodyear Cotton Bowl.
Among the other numerous accomplishments the program achieved this year include hosting
ESPN's College Gameday on Nov. 19 for its home game against Buffalo. The event brought a near sellout crowd helping the Broncos eventually set a single-season attendance record with over 140,000 people coming to Waldo Stadium this season.
